As Conference Tournaments begin, keep in mind two important handicapping factors for Conference Tournament play. One is team motivation, for some teams ( Louisville) they might be better off losing in the first game of the Big East Tournament and getting a week off to rest before the NCAA Tourney starts, than having to play 3 consecutive games to win the Big East. Can you remember who won last Year’s Big East Tourney? On the other hand, there’s Conferences like the Mountain West, where UNLV, NM, San Diego St, and probably Utah, and BYU have to win or go deep in the Conference Tourney to make the NCAA Tourney.

The second factor to remember is fatigue, back to back games are hard enough in the NBA, but 3-4 consecutive games in as many days in College make for weak legs, and poor outside shooting which also affect totals.

Next week, while filling out your NCAA Brackets, keep in mind that the teams with Junior and Senior starters, better Guards, and play better defense advance !

Meanwhile the media will make a big production on who’s in, and who’s out of the NCAA Tournament this week. In reality there are only 6, maybe 7 teams with a legitimate chance of winning the whole thing, so if the last team in is Utah or Creighton it doesn’t really matter.

One of these Year’s when the NCAA Committee gets a clue, they could purchase Ken White’s LVSC NCAA Power Ratings and use his numbers in determining who’s in ,out, and I guarantee his numbers are better than some NCAA Geek spouting RPI.

U Conn/ Pitt - One reason why U Conn doesn’t match up well vs Pitt, is that Pitt plays more physical and pushes U Conn around.

AZ- Nobody in the media will say it, so I will : Lute Olsen really screwed over his AZ players as this is their 3rd Head Coach in 3 years.

Duke- Defense gives up too many easy baskets to more athletic teams.

Former UCLA Coach Steve Lavin is so much more informative and entertaining, than AARP members Dick Vitale, Digger Phelps, Vern Lundquist, Rafferty, but the old guys get the better/bigger games ?

Sports Radio- How can know nothing Sports Radio hosts Mad Dog RQuestions or Comments email me champ523@msn.com usso, JT Brick, Espn clowns, My 2 Stews make millions a Year and Good knowledgeable host like Ben Maller and John Kelly be looking for work ?
