The dogs were barking on week 2 of the NFL season, finishing with a record of 11-4-1, while over/unders came out nearly even at 8-7-1.Normally, with this many underdogs winning, I have an excellent record, as anyone who follows my plays knows-but this was not the case with the week 2 results. As a gesture of goodwill, all readers of this article can e-mail at champ523@msn.com this week and I will send you all of my plays for free for week #3.
Now onto the NFL news and notes:
Buffalo: OK, we all know J.P isn't great, but this team is not as bad as they have been playing.
Pittsburgh: The Steelers are playing well and winning games but let's not put them into the Super Bowl just yet.
Cincinnati: If this team had any defense at all, they could be dangerous. How do you let the Browns put up 51 points?
Houston: 2-0 start will gain them some media attention but pay attention to lines that may be too much in their favor.
San Francisco: Alex Smith and the entire offense miss Norv Turner and it shows as they have been struggling on offense.
St. Louis: Offensive Line injuries are hurting this team.
Green Bay: Defense is playing well and so far, Brett Farve is not throwing up those baffling interceptions.
NY Giants: A team that makes too many stupid plays and immature penalties and does not tackle.
Atlanta: QB Joey Harrington may not be the starter much longer, but do not expect much of an upgrade with Leftwich, who won't have time to learn a new offense this season.
Jacksonville: David Gerrard does take care of the football, creating few turnovers, but he does not make plays.
New Orleans: America's Team from last year is finding it a tougher go now that other teams are trying to knock them out of the spotlight.
Tampa Bay: Defense is much better than 2006. Unlike Gradkowski, Jeff Garcia can make plays, good and bad.
Minnesota:Defense is good versus the run. QB situation is a question.
Detroit: Fun to watch on offense, but can the defense stop anyone?
Dallas: Defense can't stop the pass. QB Tony Romo is making plays but is not as good as he has been playing.
Miami: Defense is good; Trent Green should have retired.
Arizona: Upgrades to coaching staff should add a few wins over last season.
NY Jets: Will not sneak up on teams like last year. Running off Offensive Guard Kendall could prove costly.
Baltimore: After 6 turnovers on Monday night, take a "wait & see" attitude with this team.
Oakland: Upgrades in Offensive line and QB should make Raiders more competetive. I should have played them against Denver last week.
Kansas City: HBO Training Camp special showed just how bad this team really is.
San Diego: This team has some of the best talent in the league. New coaching staff will need some time to get adjusted and make adjustments.
New England: They are good, but not great. ESPN's talk of 16-0 is nonsense.
Washington: Will remain competetive as long as QB Jason Campbell plays consistently. Look for in the underdog role.
Philadelphia: QB McNabb is not completely healed from last year's injury, is still overrated and simply not playing as well the past few years. Eagles won more games without Donovan than with him over a 17-game stretch.
NCAA note:
Arizona: They changed to the spread offense this season but the problem is that they do not have the QB to make the throws.
