The Padres would qualify as an official Underdog System selection at +100 or better, but they are still worth a look as a small home favorite tonight. It is a rare opportunity to get one of the best pitchers in the league, Jake Peavy, at a small price, especially after a bad performance.

Peavy just lost at Arizona last Wednesday when he allowed 5 runs. Despite that loss, he has still allowed 1 earned run or less in three of his past five games and has an excellent 1.42 ERA and 0.91 WHIP at home this season.

Meanwhile, Arizona’s Dan Haren is also coming off a below average performance, but he still got the win in that game, plus it was the second time in three starts that he allowed 5+ runs. The Diamondbacks have also been a much weaker offensive team on the road this season, averaging just 4.2 runs per game and batting a miserable .236.
