Charlie Scott Aug 22, 2008 |
Now that the Brett Favre circus has moved from Green Bay to New York, let's take a look on how the move effects Football bettors. In late July the media brought us the Brett Favre/Packers soap opera 24 hours a day and now it has moved to New York, the media capital of the world. How does the Brett Favre media saga effect football bettors ? The answer is public overreaction. When the Jet ...

NCAA Final Four Preview |
|
Charlie Scott Apr 3, 2008 |
UCLA Strengths: PG Collison is one of the premier defensive guards in the country. F Love is a strong, inside post player who can score and rebound. Coach Howland is one of the best coaches in the NCAA; his teams play great team defense and always seem to take a good shot on offense. UCLA has made the Final Four three straight years. Weaknesses: UCLA has trouble sc ...

March Madness Brackets |
|
Charlie Scott Mar 11, 2008 |
It seems that all sports fans love to do some research to prepare for their NCAA pools this time of year. As fans begin to prepare putting together their 2008 bracket keep in mind one basic , but important fact, while the first round matchups are important, in most cases players must have the NCAA champion picked correctly in order to win the pool. Seldom is a bracket pool won without th ...

NCAA Baskets Big East Notes |
|
Charlie Scott Feb 21, 2008 |
Here are some notes that I write for myself to help with handicapping NCAA Basketball.
Big East
Georgetown Play disciplined and hard nose basketball. C Hibbert plays when he wants to. On offense team is missing at least one more scoring threat.
Louisville Talented, getting better every game, plays very good defense. This team s ...

Super Bowl 2-3-08 |
|
Charlie Scott Feb 2, 2008 |
I can't remember a Super Bowl like the upcoming Pats/Giants, in which all the public squares seem to be on the double digit underdog NY Giants, and the wiseguys all on the favorite. This past week on Leroy's Radio show, some pretty sharp Sport Services have been giving out the Patriots -12 and the Over 54. Novice bettors should be made aware that although anything can happen in one game,(esp ...

I'm not a big fan of S.D. Charger QB Phillip Rivers, but have to give him props for his performance in the AFC Championship game against the NE Patriots with a torn ACL. It was nice to see the officials let the players play in the SD/NE game and keep their flags in their pockets. However,in the Giants/GB game the officials made some terrible calls for both sides. Have you noticed that during th ...

Charlie Scott Dec 4, 2007 |
Once again, bettors who wagered on OVER the totals in the NFL were happy with the results; the weekend resulted in 11 games going over the totals and just five games staying under the total. Favorites got the money in seven games, while the underdogs covered six (did not count the Jets/Miami, Giants/Bears or Browns/Cardinals.) As I have stated before, my rushing angle proved out once again-teams t ...

Favorites in the NFL took the money this past weekend going 8-4-2 ATS. I didn't include Titans/Denver and Saints/Texans, since these games were lined minus 1, and did count Browns/Ravens and Miami/Eagles as ties ATS. Totals: Over bettors were happy again as 10 games went Over the total and 6 Under. Technical and trend handicappers can make any side seem like a great bet with their numbers. H ...

Lessons from Childhood and the New England Patriots |
|
Charlie Scott Nov 3, 2007 |
These days, if you spend any time at all around parents with their young children, you cannot conduct a conversation without the parents stopping in mid-sentence time after time to chastise Junior; "Don't put that in your mouth, stay on the sidewalk, don't talk to strangers, tighten the strap on your bicycle helmet"...the list is endless. When I was growing up in the early seventies, I was s ...

Patriots Are the Pats really this good ? No matter how high the line is, it seems that Belichick makes sure they cover. The total for Miami/NE was 52, which is high for NFL games, and the Pats almost went over the total all on their own. With all of the attention focused on the Pats this early in the season, you can be sure that opposing teams offensive and defensive coordinators are st ...

NFL 9-26-07 Getting the Best Line |
|
Charlie Scott Sep 26, 2007 |
Yesterday, a buddy of mine named Jumbo, was complaining about the results of his betting weekend, blaming "bad luck." When he included the Houston Texans as one of his losses, I couldn't understand how he had lost that bet-until I found out that in an effort to make his wagers before leaving town for the weekend, he had placed all of his bets on Friday with his local book.
Why anyone woul ...

NFL News & Notes for Week #2 as of 9-18-07 |
|
Charlie Scott Sep 19, 2007 |
The dogs were barking on week 2 of the NFL season, finishing with a record of 11-4-1, while over/unders came out nearly even at 8-7-1.Normally, with this many underdogs winning, I have an excellent record, as anyone who follows my plays knows-but this was not the case with the week 2 results. As a gesture of goodwill, all readers of this article can e-mail at champ523@msn.com this week and I will ...

NFL Training Camp Players work out all off-season, have training camp and 4 pre-season games and yet opening week starts and players are cramping and gasping for air all over the place
Charlie Weis Self annoited "genius." If he is truly a genius, he needs to win games, or at least compete in games when his team is an underdog. He didn't run any trick plays or try to ...
