Incompetence or Conspiracy
Charlie Scott Nov 22, 2008

The highly irregular hijinks in the final seconds of the Chargers/Steelers game last Sunday open the door a little wider for doubts and discussions of NFL officiating. While NBA Ref Tim Donagy is still fresh in fans minds. There are two possible explanations, one or more of the game officials did not want the Steelers to cover the spread, or this was just the latest example of terrible ...  read more

College Football

1st Head Coach firing came from Clemson, as Tommy Bowden is out, but he will still collect his paycheck. Under Bowden, Clemson generally won the games they were supposed to win, but seldom could come up with a big game win. Despite the fact that Bowden is not a great gameday coach, he is a good recruiter and will likely be a head coach again next season.

Rants & Raves 10-9-2008
Charlie Scott Oct 9, 2008

What the heck is going on down at Auburn ? Yesterday they fired offensive coordinator Tony Franklin who they had brought over from Troy to install the spread offense and replace Tuberville's smash mouth conservative style. Last week vs Vanderbilt, Auburn got out to a 13-0 lead playing smash mouth run the ball offense in the first quarter. Then for some mysterious reason they totally got away ...  read more

NFL News & Notes

Charlie Scott Sep 26, 2008

I know this is a NFL blog, but it would be wrong not to mention the Oregon st upset special over USC last night. It's one thing for a team to lose, it happens in sports, but to lose the way USC did losing the line of scrimmage battle , getting out rushed by over +100 yds. This is what makes NCAAF great, less than 2 weeks ago USC beat up Ohio st like a little brother, and now last night the sa ...  read more

College Football 9-12-08
Charlie Scott Sep 12, 2008

I would like to start off this week by asking the media (ESPN) to get a clue before they speak. At the end of the Fla/Miami game when Fla. coach Urban Meyer elected to kick a field goal instead of taking a knee, thereby running out the clock, Kirk Herbstreet said that Meyer was doing so (adding points to the board) for recruiting purposes and Brent Musberger, who has been known to place a wager ...  read more

Notes For College Football Week 1A/
Charlie Scott Sep 2, 2008

I'll start out by stating, that although we are barely through the first week of NCAA football, I'm already sick and tired of ESPN analyst Lou Holtz. I will call last weekend's NCAA only football card week 1A and next week will be NFL & NCAA week 1.

California Sophomore RB Best highly recruited and can play. There shouldn't be a QB controversy; Riley should be the starting QB fo ...  read more

Charlie Scott Aug 22, 2008

Now that the Brett Favre circus has moved from Green Bay to New York, let's take a look on how the move effects Football bettors. In late July the media brought us the Brett Favre/Packers soap opera 24 hours a day and now it has moved to New York, the media capital of the world.

How does the Brett Favre media saga effect football bettors ? The answer is public overreaction. When the Jet ...  read more

Super Bowl 2-3-08
Charlie Scott Feb 2, 2008

I can't remember a Super Bowl like the upcoming Pats/Giants, in which all the public squares seem to be on the double digit underdog NY Giants, and the wiseguys all on the favorite.

This past week on Leroy's Radio show, some pretty sharp Sport Services have been giving out the Patriots -12 and the Over 54. Novice bettors should be made aware that although anything can happen in one game,(esp ...  read more
Lessons from Childhood and the New England Patriots
Charlie Scott Nov 3, 2007

These days, if you spend any time at all around parents with their young children, you cannot conduct a conversation without the parents stopping in mid-sentence time after time to chastise Junior; "Don't put that in your mouth, stay on the sidewalk, don't talk to strangers, tighten the strap on your bicycle helmet"...the list is endless. When I was growing up in the early seventies, I was s ...  read more

NFL 9-26-07 Getting the Best Line
Charlie Scott Sep 26, 2007

Yesterday, a buddy of mine named Jumbo, was complaining about the results of his betting weekend, blaming "bad luck." When he included the Houston Texans as one of his losses, I couldn't understand how he had lost that bet-until I found out that in an effort to make his wagers before leaving town for the weekend, he had placed all of his bets on Friday with his local book.

Why anyone woul ...  read more

NFL News & Notes for Week #2 as of 9-18-07
Charlie Scott Sep 19, 2007
The dogs were barking on week 2 of the NFL season, finishing with a record of 11-4-1, while over/unders came out nearly even at 8-7-1.Normally, with this many underdogs winning, I have an excellent record, as anyone who follows my plays knows-but this was not the case with the week 2 results. As a gesture of goodwill, all readers of this article can e-mail at champ523@msn.com this week and I will ...  read more
